BURKINA FASO: Invitation to tender for the construction of three water wells in Kaya
The Netherlands Development Organization in Burkina Faso (SNV-BF) is launching a call for tenders for the construction of three boreholes in Kaya, a town located in the Centre-North region. The call for expressions of interest is open until May 14, 2022.
News on the “Water, Key to Sustainable Development” (WSSD) project in Burkina Faso. After the closing of the call for expressions of interest for the construction of 10 boreholes and three stand-alone water stations in the Boucle de Mouhoun region on April 29, 2022, the Netherlands Development Organization in Burkina Faso (SNV-BF) is once again seeking the services of a company. This time, the selected company will carry out three boreholes in Kaya, a town located in the Centre-North region.
The water pumped from the water table by the future installations will be injected into the network of the Office national de l’eau et de l’assainissement (ONEA). The government agency is responsible for the creation, management and protection of water collection, supply, treatment and distribution facilities for cities and industries in Burkina Faso.
The new facilities will also strengthen ONEA’s capacity and the supply of drinking water to the population. Companies interested in the project have until May 14, 2022 to apply. The selected company will have one month to deliver the three boreholes.
In addition to the construction of the boreholes, the ECDD project aims to strengthen the institutions involved in water, sanitation and agricultural management, in particular the water agencies, local water committees (Cle), communes and agricultural umbrella organizations in Burkina Faso. The initiative is also expected to improve sanitation and hygiene services. Launched in December 2020, the project is expected to be completed in December 2024. The Netherlands is funding the work with €12.45 million, or about CFA 8.2 billion.
