DRC President Oversees Progress on Kinshasa Financial Center
On Wednesday, August 02, 2023, President Felix Tshisekedi, the Head of State, made his second visit to the construction site of the Financial Center of Kinshasa, located in the commune of Gombe.
The visit aimed to assess the progress made since his last visit nine months ago, and President Tshisekedi expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing work.
Turhan Mildon, the head of the Turkish company Milvest, which is responsible for the construction, commented, “Today, we welcomed the Head of State for the second time, and he witnessed the significant progress we have achieved.
We are now more than 90 percent complete, and we are on track for the inauguration scheduled for December.”
The Financial Center project is set to provide 10,000 offices and will consist of four towers with 21 levels. These towers will house the Ministries of Finance and Budget, government offices, and a luxurious 5-star hotel boasting 240 rooms. Additionally, the center will include a congress center with a seating capacity of 3,000.
The construction site, situated between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Athénée de la Gombe, and the Palais de Justice, employs 3,000 people, with a mix of 1,200 Turkish and 1,800 Congolese workers.
During his visit, President Tshisekedi took the opportunity to personally ensure that the working conditions of the workers were up to standard.
The establishment of this state-of-the-art infrastructure is the fruit of cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Turkey.
It all began in 2022 when agreements were signed in Kinshasa during the official visit of President Felix Tshisekedi and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Financial Center of Kinshasa stands as a testament to the strong bond between Congo and Turkey, bringing together their expertise and resources to create a remarkable hub for finance and administration. As its completion draws near, the center promises to play a vital role in fostering economic growth and development in the region.
