DRC: USD 500 million expected from the World Bank to support the water and sanitation sectors

The World Bank announces that it will grant an estimated sum of 500 million US dollars within the framework of the project called “KINENENA” to support the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the water and sanitation sectors.
It should be noted that the expected funds should enable the Government of the DRC to boost the Water Distribution Board (REGIDESO) in improving its drinking water supply.
This is what the technical team of the World Bank informed the Minister of State in charge of the Budget, Aimé Boji Sangara, at the end of a working session on Monday March 28, 2022.
According to Ms. Rebecca Gilsdorf, water and sanitation specialist, “ World Bank projects are well aligned with those of the Government and will be processed as soon as possible. »
With regard to the payment of State bills, which amount to around 40% of REGIDESO’s turnover, the Congolese Minister of State in charge of the Budget, Aimé Boji, promised to take many initiatives at of the Council of Ministers in order to help this state-owned company to get out of serious cash flow difficulties.
