CHINA CIVIL ENGINEERING CORPORATION COMPLETES $150MILLION PROJECT- ZAMBIA

The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation has completed the construction of the Kafue Bulk Water supply project at a cost of 150 Million US dollars.

Speaking during a joint familiarization tour of the project, Mwiya Sinvula, the Project Public Relations Officer said the venture which is under the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation is meant to address the water challenges being faced in Lusaka City.

Mr. Sinvula said the project is designed to pump about 150, 000 cubic meters of water per day of which 50,000 cubic meters is being pumped currently.

Meanwhile, Zambia China Friendship Association Committee Member Rabson Chongo said the project is a symbolic continuation of the friendship that exists between Zambia and China.

Mr. Chongo said the completion of the water plant could not have come at a better time than now when the growing population of Lusaka District is in need of clean and safe drinking water.
