EU- Zambia Economic Forum a Great Success

The Government of the Republic of Zambia and the European Union (EU) hosted the First Ever EU – ZAMBIA ECONOMIC FORUM (EUZEF) and it was a great success.
Through Business to Business (B2B) meetings, Business to Government (B2G) meetings, Exhibitions and general Business Networking, the country has already started witnessing and reaping the fruits of the forum as some trade and investment deals have already been signed as further engagements continue.
Officially opened by the President of the Republic of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema and officially closed by his Vice President W.K Mutale Nalumango, the forum brought together over 1000 delegates comprising of companies and government officials from Zambia and the EU member States to discuss business, seal trade and investment deals and form partnerships between EU and Zambian enterprises in various priority sectors which include tourism, manufacturing, energy, agriculture, mining, green economy and information Communication Technology.
Other dignitaries that attended the forum include the European Union Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski, Ambassador Albert Muchanga African Union Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Industry and Mining, some cabinet ministers and EU Ambassador to Zambia and COMESA Jacek Jankowski among others.
The inaugural EUZEF was hosted under the theme ‘Economic Transformation through Green Growth’ at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka on 17 – 19 May 2022.

After officially opening the FIRST EVER EU – ZAMBIA ECONOMIC FORUM President Hakainde Hichilema took time to visit both the Zambian and EU companies exhibiting their products and services on the sidelines of the Forum.
Mr. Hichilema also passed through the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry where the Zambia Development Agency and other statutory bodies under the ministry are exhibiting.
The president appreciated the work of the ministry and its statutory bodies and urged the members of staff to keep up the good work.
